“Supercult” EP
This project is one of a few projects that got me back in the saddle with comics, artwork, and just being free. I remember I was in a band that played a show with Morganthus, and they'd seen the promotional posters I had illustrated for the rock concerts we were playing. They said, "we want a leader on stage with a crowd, and he's torn his face off." I responded, "Where do I sign?"
The initial design was rapid, like all of my favorite projects, and once I got going, the illustration flowed effortlessly. The picture was developed entirely in Clip Studio Paint with retro effects from Retro Supply Co. and True Grit Texture Supply (two of my favorites).
Once I finished the cover, we began discussing other promotional opportunities, and I suggested a mini-comic to insert into the CD case. That discussion led to the creation of the first "Supercult" comic, which I wrote and drew and am now developing into a series that will be available through Vantage Comics.
If you have an album cover project or other illustration projects you'd like me to take a swing at, please use my contact form, or email me at info(at)rlblack.ink, and I will respond quickly.
